Today is the day! Waiting for news!

Today is both a good day and a sad day.  It’s potentially a good day because we could get positive news from Tahiti that our engine head was repairable and will be shipped back to us.  It’s also a very  sad day because today is my young sister Lesley’s memorial service.  She passed away last week after battling Alzheimers for many years.  I am so glad that we had the opportunity visit South Africa  and to say goodbye in 2011. Karin and I took her  her on a trip to the Kruger National Park which she enjoyed so much.  I am thinking of her son Charles, my nephew, who will be experiencing one of the toughest days of his life.  Mother and son were very close.  We love you Charles!

If all works out well with our engine repair, we could be out of this place towards the end of the week and continue on with our adventure.  We are looking forward to the atolls of the Tuomoto Archipelago and sailing on towards Papeete, Tahiti.  We are looking forward to having friends Cliff Brown and Richard Krieger on board for a couple of weeks as we sail from Papeete to the atolls of Raiatea, Bora Bora, and Morea west of Tahiti.  We plan on attending the Pacific Puddle-Jump Rally party and celebration on Morea  June 22.

  1. Hi guys. The ups and downs of life! My condolences about your sister. I Hope your engine part has arrived
At this end, I have just returned from 2 great weeks on Edge of Moonlight down to the San Juans, Vancouver and back. My relationship with her has changed, I’m much more confident and I’m ready to go! I need one more season of revenue with DSYC so I can install a new chartplotter.
The trip to Bermuda next week on SV “Navigator” is really exciting. First time on the Atlantic.

Plan A: leave for San Diego about September 05. Winter in San Diego. Puddle jump in March 2018. Challenge: all the other family plans I have this summer.
Plan B: Stay longer to get more money. Leave June 2018 and do one of: Transpac solo, Pacific Cup, Vic- Maui. Challenge: We’ll be back in Vietnam full time by then.
Good problems to have! cheers, KJ

  2. Sorry for the loss of your sister, Tony. Great that you were able to make a such meaningful last visit with her.

Not too long now before Cliff and I see you! Hope the engine problem and the baggage handlers’ strike is resolved soon!

    Big hugs, Richard
