Another bucket list item bites the dust!
The wind was a bit brisk at our anchorage at Hornby, so much so, that swimming wasn’t high on the agenda. Hornby is usually a favourite of ours because we can swim but it wasn’t to be so. Before paddling ashore, we had to let out more chain because we had anchored just a wee bit too shallow. It was so shallow that we couldn’t retrieve our anchor until the tide came up a bit later in the day. Good thing it was a sandy bottom.
The village at Hornby is always a treat and this time it was particularly busy due to the August long weekend. We found a wifi connection, enjoyed a couple of smoothies and checked emails. A few groceries at the local co-op along with some fresh veggies at a road side stand and we were on our way back to Mayaluga just in time to see Stefa and Juergen from Mazu, their Tayana 37 and also a Blue Water Cruising member, arriving on the beach with their dinghy.
That afternoon, Tony decided that he had an opportunity, one that he might never have again, to knock off another Bucket List item. It wasn’t difficult for him to convince me to join him and so we headed off in the dinghy around to Little Tribune Bay. I could see that the thought of what he was intending to do was increasingly uncomfortable as we got closer to the beach. But he didn’t chicken out. We secured the dinghy, stripped down and joined the other naked beach frolickers. I think it helped when I quickly took my shirt off – Tony had no option at that point but to join me. What a hoot! I’m proud of my sailor man! He got past his fears and just did it! Adventia before dementia!
